Letter to the Editor: Liberals are enslaving U.S. citizens

Mr. Gurowitz, why do you write about the troll dragging out the "Old Republic Argument"? You personally drag out the majority rules argument when wanting to justify the liberal agenda. If greater than 50 percent of the people who require or just want increased government assistance can vote by majority rule to take someone else's earned income, it demonstrates the very purpose of why our founders created this American Democratic Republic.

It is our Constitution, maybe akin to the bible, which has been able to survive almost 250 years because it did not predict each future discovery, but laid out a foundation of government while allowing for advancing knowledge.

Yes, we have many needy people in this country - but I dare remind you that it is the conservative people in this country who always find the resources to help others. It is not your liberal rich who just want to clear their consciences and force someone else to pay.

You blame the greedy rich entrepreneurs for all the problems of the poor, while liberals like Pelosi and Reid skillfully become among the richest in government selling their souls, breaking and bending all the rules they can in order to become wealthy and powerful. These are the people who enslave our citizens to governmental control of one's existence rather than creating jobs and opportunity to allow one to rise out of poverty. Slavery isn't just what was experienced in the old Plantation South - it is an endemic obfuscated worldwide system of life that saps freedom, spirit and self upward mobilization.

Capitalism, the very evil you criticize, has been the greatest weapon in fighting these many forms of slavery. We, as Americans, want our lives, laws and freedoms to be controlled and guided by our Constitution, not by any ideological government.
