OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. - Alpenglow Sports presents Greg Hill in the second installment of their annual Winter Film Series on Thursday, Dec. 13.
In 2010, Greg Hill attempted his greatest challenge to date; to climb and ski over two million vertical feet in under 365 days. Greg's slideshow takes us on his journey of strength and determination set in some of the wildest places on earth. Experience summits, struggles and huge descents with Greg as he undertakes his adventure.
A Quebec native, Hill's adventures include having summited and skied over 190 mountains, pioneered the Northern Monashee Traverse (a 21-day traverse with 21 summits), and has climbed and skied nine of the 10 highest peaks in the Selkirk Mountains, to name a few. His 2 million vertical feet in 2010 averaged 5,500 feet per day, climbing 71 mountains, skiing 1,039 runs in four countries.
In September, Hill was on an expedition on Mt. Manaslu and witnessed the avalanche that swept through Camp 3. Hill speaks to being a part of the rescue effort, reflects on the events of the disaster, and begins to decipher the lessons learned that deadly morning in the second half of the evening in a slideshow and Q-and-A.
All shows in the Alpenglow Winter Film Series are free and designed to motivate, inspire, and educate. Amazing prizes from our generous sponsors Salomon, Arc'teryx and Black Diamond will be raffled, with the proceeds to benefit the Sierra Avalanche Center.
