Police are looking for a man who allegedly walked into the South Lake Tahoe IHOP Wednesday night and walked out with the cash register.

The man entered the open restaurant about 9:20 p.m. and told an employee he was just going to use the restroom, according to witness statements given to police. The man entered the bathroom, exited, picked up the cash register, ripped its plug from the wall and fled the building on foot, said Lt. David Stevenson.

The man is described as white, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, about 170 pounds and between 20 and 30 years old with brown hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 530-542-6100 or Secret Witness at 530-541-6800.
