Truckee Police investigate rash of snowblower thefts

TRUCKEE, Calif. - Police are advising residents to properly secure their belongings following a rash of snowblower thefts in town.

According to a Monday afternoon statement, the Truckee Police Department has recently taken several reports of stolen snowblowers, most of which were under the Honda brand and were taken from front and side yards of residences, often during daylight hours.

"Truckee PD would like to remind citizens that while we have a very safe community, crimes of opportunity due occur," according to an online press release. "Please remember to secure items. Also, if you are buying used items, please make sure it is from a reputable person."

Anyone with information on the thefts is encouraged to contact Officer Chase Covington or Det. Arnie Lopez at 530-550-2323.
