Kindred to offer full day winter break sessions

TRUCKEE, Calif. - Need some inspiration over the holiday break? Kindred Art and Folk Institute has full-day sessions to share that include a main project, a hike and cooking each day, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at Martis Village Complex, 10015 Palisades Drive, Ste. A4, Truckee.

Wednesday, Dec. 26: Salt, Glue and Sewing Too. A simple design turned into amazing art using positive and negative space. While the first creation is drying we will use the same design in a stitching project and incorporate them into one.

Thursday, Dec. 27: Ice Skating, S'mores, Coco and Art. A fun day of skating, s'mores and ice cube art.

Friday, Dec. 28: Dream Box. Ever want a place to keep precious dreams and wishes? Students will start with a wood box and using paint, words and aspects of collage turn it into a treasure.

Wednesday, Jan. 2: Wooden Picture. Do you have a favorite photo and have always wanted to do something special with it? This is that something. Students will need to provide a high-res digital image prior to this session, two-day project.

Thursday, Jan. 3: Lets get cooking! Chicken and Dumplings. Students will measure, chop and work together to create a culinary delight. In the afternoon enjoy a kindred feast as a community. Families are welcome to join the feast at 4 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 4: Mantra Patch. Symbols and words hold a strong sense of strength, students will take this positive energy and put it into a patch sacred to them for the new year.

Sessions include healthy snacks. Students will need to bring a water bottle and a sack lunch for full day sessions.

Pre-registration is required for the correct number of supplies.
