JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A California man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for distributing drugs in Juneau.
The Juneau Empire (http://is.gd/aiXITv) says 24-year-old Travell Demar Pinkston was sentenced Wednesday. Prosecutors say he provided airline tickets for people who carried oxycodone pills on flights from California and Nevada to Juneau.
The pills were bought in Sacramento. Pinkston then arranged for curriers from that city, as well as San Francisco, Oakland and Reno, Nev., to bring the drugs to Juneau aboard commercial flights.
Charging documents say the conspiracy lasted from November 2008 to September 2010, and a total of at least 7,500 oxycodone pills were transported during that time.
Pinkston was arrested in Sacramento in February 2011. He pleaded guilty in August.
