Driver "spinning doughnuts" hits wall at magnet school

A large white truck or SUV is suspected in a Friday crash at Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School that took out the front wall of a kindergarten classroom.

About 9:30 p.m. someone was "spinning doughnuts" in the school's back field and parking lot when the driver apparently lost control and slammed into the building, causing extensive damage, according to an email from magnet school secretary Monique Truszewski.

Maintenance personnel are constructing a new wall and students were expected to be able to use the classroom Monday with the help of electric heating, according to the email.

The school plans to add barriers in front of the school to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Truszewski asks anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact California Highway Patrol at 530-577-1001.
