Diamond Peak to open Thursday top-to-bottom

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Diamond Peak Ski Resort is opening for the 2012-13 season on Thursday with top-to-bottom skiing and riding, covering 1,840 vertical feet, officials said Wednesday.

The resort will operate the Lodgepole, Crystal Express and Schoolhouse lifts, according to a press release; more terrain is expected to open by Saturday, including Lakeview Quad, which will add several runs off that side of the mountain.

The resort will be in full operation, including the Child Ski Center, Ski and Snowboard School, Rental and Repair Shop, Sport Shop and food and beverage.

Thursday is Passholder Appreciation Day - all Diamond Peak season pass holders can enjoy a free barbecue on the deck of the Base Lodge from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Santa Claus will also make his annual visit to Diamond Peak on Dec. 23-25; Santa and Diamond Pete will be on the mountain around the base area handing out candy canes each day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
