In recognition of Tahoe's "Spare the Air" days and to give travelers the gift of convenience this holiday season, the Tahoe Transportation District is offering free rides on BlueGO routes 50 and 53 through Jan. 6.
Over the next two years, the TTD will designate as many as 88 "Spare the Air" days and create innovative ways to educate the public about the importance of preserving air quality and experiencing the many benefits of public transportation, according to a statement from TTD.
"Visitors and residents will continue to receive and access information about our free ride offerings through the TTD's website and Facebook page, advertisements and press release," said Curtis Garner, TTD transit manager in the statement. "Spare the Air days are strategically scheduled at times when visitation is at its highest, when traffic congestion is at its highest, such as long holiday weekends, the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve and the 4th of July."
