Local artist launches new comic strip

TRUCKEE, Calif. - Local artist and web designer, Sara Zimmerman, has recently launched Unearthed Comics, her newest creation. In one-panel cartoons, Unearthed Comics features Sara's observations about business and technology, parenting and children, health and food, art and music, sports and outdoors, and more. "I found myself working too hard and getting way too serious. I needed an outlet," states Sara. "The comics are therefore not only a summary of my observations of the world around me, but are very cathartic to create, often making me roll with laughter at just the ideas themselves."

About Zimmerman

Sara Zimmerman is a local Truckee artist and web designer. She owns and operates Sara Zimmerman Art, Illustration and Design. "As a web and graphic designer, a large part of my job is working with small business owners and small organizations," said Zimmerman. "Therefore I hear a lot of feedback from entrepreneurs. This has inspired some of my business and technology comics." But Sara's life isn't just work. She is exposed to many facets of this world, including playing drums in a band, rock climbing and camping, being a parent and wife, juggling art with work, etc.

Prior to moving to Truckee over a decade ago, Sara lived in Santa Cruz, Calif., where she regularly illustrated for numerous companies. "From catalog covers for Watergirl, to science illustration for Sunset State Park and Moss Landing Marine Labs, to Save the Surf campaigns for Budweiser, to silly clip art for local magazines, I was always being asked to illustrate something around me," Zimmerman said. "It has now come full circle as a side project to my life as a designer, business owner, parent, wife, and outdoor enthusiast... and I am loving every moment of it."
