PTA Reflections: Incline elementary students create award-winning artwork

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The National PTA Reflections program encourages students to explore the arts and express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Since it was founded in 1969 by Mary Lou Anderson, millions of students have benefited from this program.

This year, 40 Incline Elementary School students created works of art around the theme "The Magic of The Moment." The students create projects in the following Arts Categories: Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Musical Composition, Literature and Film Production.

The students' artwork was judged by experts at Sierra Nevada College. The IES students who created the 25 winning pieces were treated to a wonderful awards lunch at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe on Dec. 18.

This is the fifth year the Hyatt has sponsored this very special lunch for IES student artists. The students were able to invite their parents to share the special lunch with them. At the lunch the art work was displayed and each student received a certificate, a medal, and a Village Toys gift certificate.

The projects that were recognized at the local Incline Elementary School PTA level will go on to be judged at the Nevada State PTA level. Further information on this and other IES PTA projects and events can be found on the PTA website www.iespta.com.
