KINGS BEACH, Calif. - On Dec. 11, 2012 three members of the North Tahoe Public Utility District board of directors began new four year terms. Newly elected Board Member Phil Thompson replaced Director Frank Mooney who had chosen not to run for office again after 25 years of service on the board. Incumbent Directors John Bergmann and Tim Ferrell were welcomed back to the board after successfully retaining their respective seats.
The board also agreed to keep meetings on Tuesday mornings. The board reaffirmed important parks or public items that are not routine business will be scheduled as an evening item so the public may be involved.
• Approved a two-year extension of the Memorandum of Understanding with IUOE Stationary Engineers Local 39 through June 30, 2015.
• Received an update on the progress of the design of the new Base Facilities for the North Tahoe Public Utility District.
• S. Lane Lewis was once again elected by his fellow board members to serve as president of the board with John Bergmann retaining his vice-president office and Sue Daniels chosen to serve as secretary for the first time.
• The Oath of Office ceremony was performed for Directors John Bergmann (Seat 5) and Tim Ferrell (Seat 2) by Board and Records Secretary Marianne Potts. Director Thompson had received his oath of office at the District offices on Dec. 7, 2012 when his term officially began.
The North Tahoe Public Utility District provides sewer and water service to the residents of Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay, Cedar Flat and Agate Bay. The District owns, manages and maintains the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista which provides recreation opportunities to residents and visitors. In addition, the District owns and/or maintains all of the public beaches in the District including Kings Beach State Recreation Area, Tahoe Vista Recreation Area, and Secline Beach. The North Tahoe Event Center in downtown Kings Beach is also owned and managed by the District.
