Little Rascals Playskool | Children helping children

TRUCKEE, Calif. - The boys and girls at Truckee's Little Rascals Playskool recently completed a fundraising project. Each child made their own piggy bank as a part of a fundraising effort to help children at the Hogar San Jose Home for malnourished children in Honduras. The home is currently run by Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa.

Each child took their piggy bank home and during the past few months, filled them with coins and love. As each child filled their piggy bank, they learned about the gift of giving. Many of the "Little Rascals" filled their piggy banks with money they earned themselves and are very excited to be helping a child in need. The children raised $520.

The women of Soroptimist Truckee Donner donated $450 to help with the project. They were thrilled to help encourage and support the philanthropic efforts of giving back at such a young age.

Through these fundraising efforts, running water, flushing toilets, soap, clothes, books, music and toys have made their way to these children. Presently, 45 children, 15 under the age of 18 months, are being cared for in the home. Susan Bruno, a friend and volunteer of the Missionaries of Charity, will be hand delivering the funds to the home in 2013.

Little Rascals Playskool is owned and operated by Dirk and Vickie Hooser and is located in Tahoe Donner. They provide an environment of love, attention and countless years of experience. To learn more visit www.littlerascalsplayskool.com or call them at 530-582-1400.
