Hospice Library and Renee's Place offer bereavement support in Truckee, North Tahoe and Sierra Valley

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. - Tahoe Forest Health System (TFHS) offers bereavement support services through the Hospice Library and Renee's Place Program. Having a serious or life-limiting illness or caring for someone who does may be one of the most challenging struggles in a person's life. Tahoe Forest Health System wants the community to know there are numerous options for patients and their families to receive support.

Hospice Library resources include various books on the following topics: general hospice information; dementia and hospice; grief and loss; the dying process; children who are grieving, and other hospice-related topics. Books are checked out on the honor system. The library is located at the Hospice Volunteer and Bereavement Center at 10083 Lake Ave. (at the corner of Lake and Tahoe) in Truckee. Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Please call 530-582-3534 before visiting to ensure a staff member is available. Special visiting hours can also be accommodated.

Understanding the loss of someone close and getting beyond trauma and grief is very difficult for anyone - especially for young people. The Renee's Place Program gently guides children, teens and families through the grieving process. A generous collection of books, videos, and resource materials are available in your local schools and public libraries in Truckee, the North Shore, Incline Village and Sierra Valley. The program also provides trained volunteers who offer compassionate bereavement support in a group setting or in a one on one environment. Volunteer counselors also work in collaboration with local school counselors and principals. For more information, please call Sunee Zrno, coordinator, Renee's Place at 530-582-6521 or 530-582-3534.
