Incline basketball | Boys get best of Pershing County at home

The Incline boys couldn't have asked for a better start after their holiday break.

After thumping Truckee in their Mount Rose League opener Thursday night, the Highlanders defeated a tough Pershing County squad, 55-50, at home on Friday.

The game was tight from the start, as the Division III powers were locked in a 10-10 tie after one quarter while Incline edged ahead, 32-28, by the half. The Highlanders led 43-35 after three quarters before holding off the Mustangs in the fourth.

Junior point guard Orin Porter finished with a game-high 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Highlanders. Christian Biscotti contributed 11 points, while Jack Clouthier scored seven points and Jack Bessette six.

For Pershing County, Randolph McLean led the way with 15 points, Jacob Adams had 12 points and Layne Chambers had 11.

Incline improved to 9-7 overall and Pershing County fell to 13-4.

The Incline girls lost their game against the two-time defending state champion Mustangs, 62-21.

UP NEXT: Incline is scheduled to play at South Tahoe on Friday and host North Tahoe on Saturday.
