Village Notes: What's happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Wow I thought I was in Alaska for a few days. Where did the freezing temperatures come from? Lots of broken water pipes from that cold snap around the village. If you happen to see water running out your neighbor's next door, that is most likely what happened. Hope that weather does not return.

A huge shout-out to Raley's for moving the Community Bulletin Board. Thanks for helping our community stay informed.

Remember that Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and schools along with some local businesses will be closed. The Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation and the IVGID Administrative offices will be closed all day on Monday.

Hurry to buy your tickets for the Incline High School Crab and Pasta Feed on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom. This event sells out each year. For information visit www.inclinecrabfeed.com.

A great outdoor event for the community is the Community Snowshoe hike on Friday, Jan. 25. The hike starts at the base lodge at Diamond Peak and when you reach Snowflake Lodge refreshments are available! For information about the snowshoe hike stop at the Rec. Center or call 775-832-1177.

Tahoe Safe Alliance is having a ski day at Sugar Bowl on Feb. 3. Also Feb. 8 is the annual Father/Daughter Dance at the Tahoe Biltmore. Both of the events can be found by visiting www.tahoesafealliance.org.

The Ullrfest activities at Diamond Peak will take place from Friday, Feb. 8, to Sunday, Feb. 10. For a complete list of events visit www.dpsef.org and plan to attend. The annual Torchlight Parade is always spectacular.

A special birthday shout out this week to Bonanza Publisher Michael Gelbman on Jan. 20.
