Auburn Ski Club to host fundraiser for Sierra Avalanche Center

DONNER SUMMIT, Calif. - The Auburn Ski Club Training Center will participate in the Sierra Avalanche Center (SAC) Ski and Ride days Jan. 26 and 27, one of many Sierra resorts donating a portion of ticket sales to SAC's nonprofit forecasting and awareness efforts. Trail passes will be $12 for adults and $5 for age 12 and under - the public is invited. All proceeds from day passes will be donated to SAC.

Auburn Ski Club operates a 20K groomed cross-country trail system at their training center adjacent to Boreal Mt. Resort on Donner Summit. ASC is well known as the premier cross-country training and competition venue in the West. In 2004 ASC hosted the NCAA National Championships, and in 2005 and 2009 the USSA Junior National Championships. Coming April 6 the ASC Training Center will host a USSA Cross-Country Super Tour Sprint race. The competition will bring the best U.S. athletes and visiting international athletes - all vying for a spot on the 2014 Sochi Olympic team.

The Training Center and cross-country trails operate Wednesday through Sunday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Seasonal memberships and daily trail passes are available. ASC also offers programs to youth in downhill skiing, cross-country, freestyle and snowboarding from entry to advanced levels.
