TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. - The Tahoe School of Music adds Mark McCay to its already talented roster of instructors. Mark has been creating music his entire life. Inspired by a musical and artistic family, Mark has a passion for music that permeates his being and he thrives sharing this joy with others through performing, recording and instructing. While pursuing a design degree at UC Davis, he gained a reputation as a studio musician, recording tracks on numerous projects from jazz and rock, to bluegrass and country, playing guitar, mandolin, steel guitar and dobro, among other instruments. Always active in the musical community, Mark continues to perform as a solo artist and as a sideman for various groups regionally. His community involvement doesn't stop with music. As an entrepreneur, small businessman, and an individual citizen, Mark been involved in many environmental, political, and community organizations, including a current seat on the board of directors for the nonprofit Auburn Ski Club. Mark is now available for private lessons through the school.In an effort to better serve the community and remain true to its mission, the Tahoe School of Music in Truckee changed its tax status from profit to nonprofit 501c3 on Sept. 7, 2012. The organization currently provides services for Truckee Elementary School, Truckee-Donner Parks & Recreation District, Sierra Expeditionary Learning School, Tahoe Expedition Academy, and Forest Charter School. It also offers private and group lessons at its location at 10038 Meadow Way, Ste. E, Truckee, and has an on-site recording studio and rehearsal space.The Tahoe School of Music offers an opportunity in the community for learning and sharing music. They encourage those who are new to music as well as those who are experienced musicians, focusing on an environment that serves as a positive outlet for learning, creativity, fun and interaction with others.
