South Lake Tahoe police officer Johnny Poland will be arraigned on five counts of witness tampering and obstructing an official proceeding next week, according to a Thursday statement from federal prosecutors.

Poland is scheduled to be arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kendall J. Newman in Sacramento at 2 p.m. Feb. 14. Poland was indicted on the federal counts Thursday, according to the statement.

Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rodriguez is prosecuting the case.
