INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Diamond Peak Ski Resort and the Incline Village General Improvement District will reward Incline Village students for academic success this season with its Excellence in Education Program.
Students enrolled through grade 12 in Incline Village schools, including Lake Tahoe School, will receive a free 2012-13 season pass in exchange for a report card with straight As. The offer also extends itself to children of Incline Village property owners attending other schools.
To claim the complimentary season pass, students present the original report card from the period ending Jan. 18, 2013, at Diamond Peak Guest Services. Students who have already purchased season passes receive a full refund.
Diamond Peak's Excellence in Education program is designed to recognize the importance of academic success and reward the hard work and dedication of students in the local community. In addition, IVGID hopes to encourage students to apply that dedication outside of the classroom to achieve similar goals on the mountain and elsewhere.
The NCAA notes that student athletes graduate and are more successful overall in school than students who are not involved with sports. By rewarding students as young as five years old with free 2012-13 season passes, Diamond Peak hopes Excellence in Education will instill the values of academic and athletic achievement in the children of Incline Village.
"A great education and athletic ambition are fundamental parts of our children's upbringing," said Diamond Peak General Manager Brad Wilson. "We want to reward those students who have the motivation to earn straight As in the classroom and help them apply that motivation in another setting while having fun and enjoying the resources we have here in our community."
