The North Tahoe boys led by Peter Holmes swept the top four places in the North Tahoe Pursuit this past Friday, while Hannah Halvorsen edged Katrin Larusson in the varsity girls race.Hosted by Tahoe Cross Country, the high school racers skied one lap of classic before switching to skate skis and poles in a transition zone and then skiing one more lap. The Lakers dominated the boys race, with Holmes taking the win ahead of teammates Patrick McElravey, Shane Christian and Dylan Syben. Holmes posted a time of 15:32.19 to McElravey's 15:34.72. Christian finished in 16:14.97 and Syben in 16:39.75. "The boys had another great day," said North Tahoe coach Kara LaPoint, adding that the Lakers, as well as much of the varsity boys field, are aiming to peak at Junior Nationals in about a month. "So we should continue to see the level of skiing rise if all goes according to plan. My hope is that the boys will continue to push each other to get stronger and faster so they will be a real force when they get to Junior Nationals and are racing at the national level."Sam Zabell and Peter Carroll, both of the Sugar Bowl Academy (SBA), finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in 16:54.32 and 17:03.47. Incline's Evan Vomund was seventh in 17:12.81, SBA's Skyler Mullings was eighth in 17:15.16, Truckee's Alex Kopytko was ninth in 17:40.44 and Truckee's Eli Yale rounded out the top 10 in 17:53.03.Halvorsen and Larusson swapped positions atop the girls leaderboard, as Larusson, of SBA, had won every CNISSF race prior. This time Halvorsen, racing for Truckee, claimed the win in 17:57.27 to Larusson's 17:57.87. Amanda Kirkeby of Mammoth was third a couple minutes behind, in 19:32.52.Truckee's Skyler Flora and Lizzie Larkins finished fourth and fifth in 19:41.08 and 19:46.52, respectively, while SBA's Camille Hartley was sixth in 19:53.24 and was followed by Truckee's Gabrielle Rinne (19:57.24), SBA's Danielle Nivinski (20:13.43), Truckee's Kyla Burrill (20:18.65) and Raylene Chew (20:42.49).The middle school skiers completed one skate lap only.Alder Creek's Mia Winans captured the win in the middle school girls race, finishing in a time of 9:11.37, while North Tahoe's Lindsey Twomey was second in 9:13.81 and Alder Creek's Claire Lang-Ree third in 9:16.74. On the boys side, Ryland Belisle of Alder Creek claimed the win in a time of 8:29.23.
