A 12-year-old boy is safe after a Wednesday incident at South Tahoe Middle School initially reported as a child abduction was determined to be a related to a child custody dispute.
Police received a report about a child being pulled screaming into a vehicle at the middle school just after 1 p.m., said Lt. David Stevenson.
Officers and surrounding law enforcement agencies were told to be on the lookout for the vehicle suspected in the incident.
But, about 20 minutes later, police located the boy unharmed at his mother's house, Stevenson said. Police do not believe a crime was committed. Stevenson said the incident appears related to a custody dispute. Exactly why the boy was upset is unknown.
