Village Notes: What's happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - It is amazing that snow seems to fall everywhere except Tahoe - what's up with that? Places that don't even appreciate snow can get dumped on and we just get cut off from the world with no Internet service. Nice. I did learn how much we depend on Internet though.

Of course this is the big Presidents' weekend, so let's hope visitors arrive to enjoy the great conditions we do have - check out some of the local Facebook postings from Diamond Peak. That will make you get out on the mountain. Remember that many local businesses will be closed on Monday for the holiday including the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation and the IVGID main offices at Southwood.

We have a couple of events coming up on Friday, Feb. 22. You can choose to go inside or outside for your evening. The community snowshoe hike is Friday, Feb. 22. For information or to register, visit www.inclinerecreation or stop at the Rec. Center or call 775-832-1310. Or, attend the history "Happy Hour" from 5-6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, in the Prim Library at SNC. The guest speaker will be Don O'Bryan presenting "Dark Ecology." The event is free and light refreshments will be available.

Save the Date for an evening of Wine and Wisdom from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Tahoe Ridge Winery and Bistro in Minden. Tahoe's Mark Twain will provide the wit and wisdom. For reservations call Howard at 775-901-1100.

Also Save the Date for a wine tasting luncheon that will include the Riedel glass taste test and an elegant luncheon on Sunday, April 7. More information to come, but if you want to be on the mailing list for invitations send your information to or call 775-298-0184. This is going to be spectacular!

I know that our local bowlers headed down to the City Open at Carson Lanes last weekend, but without Internet service, I did not get an up date so will have to wait until next week to report.

Happy anniversary to Bea and Don Epstein on Feb. 21. Congratulations!

Birthdays being celebrated this week include: Janice Cuadros, Mike Hackney, Rick Hight and Holly Lefkowitz on Feb. 15; Margareta Karlsson on Feb. 16; Rachel Colarchik, Grant Godfrey and Craig Thomas on Feb. 17; Joy Armstrong and Vincent Murillo on Feb. 18; Christina Cruz and Michael Friece on Feb. 20; Tracy Cohn, Gwen Licklider, Bryan Lucas, Steven Pollard and James Wilbur on Feb. 21. Happy Birthday.

For deals and steals this week visit one of our local shops and check out what is offered. With the lack of new snow our businesses all need local support. Lots of specials too.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries, and news along with the best deals and steals you can find to
