Glenshire Elementary School students learn winter survival skills

TRUCKEE, Calif. - With plenty of early snow this winter more than 90 Glenshire Elementary School second graders enjoyed a day in the adjoining meadow to culminate their Winter Survival Lessons. On Jan. 30, parents volunteered to spend the day teaching students essential snow country survival skills. The children traveled to six stations to scout for suitable shelter spots, build snow caves, and practice creating signals for would-be rescuers. The students practiced skills learned in the classroom and extended the lessons with writing and art projects.
