The 10th Mountain Division Biathlon was held in honor of World War II ski troops under sunny skies at Auburn Ski Club on Sunday.
A total of 82 people took part, with Phillip Violett winning the 10-kilometer pro race with a time of 44:25.3. Sam Zabell finished second overall in 46:19.4, while Dan Warren (46:39.1) was third and David Eastwood (47:55.2) fourth.
Britt Cogan placed fifth overall and first among women in a time of 48:30.9. She was followed by Raylene Chew, who was the second female racer and 13th overall in 57:08.2.
Mason Payne claimed the victory in the 2K youth race, posting a time of 7:20.1, and Colleen McCandless was the top female and second overall in 7:25.9. Alex Whitham (7:28.2) was third overall and was followed by Tommy Pullen (8:36.6) and Lily Bradley (8:59.6).
Claire Lang-Ree easily took the overall win in the 4K novice race, finishing with a time of 18:37.9. Chase Stalter was second in 21:24.5 and Orion Maxwell third in 21:37.1. Paul Hoefer (23:09.9) and Megan McCandless (23:13.6) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the 8K novice race, Branden Deeter captured victory in a time of 30:09.9 to runner-up Alex Ferneyhough's 30:17.2. Keith Weiland was third in 32:42.6 and was trailed by Jared Mahler (34:47.8) and Travis Atkins (38:50.9).
Tara Atkins was the top female racer and ninth overall in 42:46.1. Lyra Pierotti was the second woman and 10th overall in 43:13.0, and Terri-Ann Rojas was the third woman in 49:55.0.
