The All-League girls' basketball results are in, and the South Shore girls earned eight names on the prestigious roster, including four first team spots.
The South Tahoe girls claimed five spots total, with Brooke King and Hannah Neiger making first team. The Whittell girls took three All-League spots, with Amanda Harris and Emily Harris on first team.
South Tahoe head coach Mike Neiger said it was King and Hannah's consistency that earned them the other coaches' votes.
"Brooke was a key for pushing the ball up the floor as well as getting to the basket all season, and Hannah was a force inside even against taller post players," Neiger said. "The other coaches in our league commented on Hannah's attitude and free throw shooting."
Hannah was a defensive and offensive powerhouse for the Vikings this season. The junior collected 131 rebounds and averaged 8.4 points a game for a season total of 211 points.
King led the Vikings' offense, averaging 9.5 points a game with 228 points in the season. The seniors consistent scoring helped land the Vikings in the playoff semifinals.
Senior Bailey David (155 points) and junior Riley Chapman (133 rebounds) were named to second team, and sophomore Ally King (135 points and 90 rebounds) earned honorable mention.
Whittell seniors Amanda and Emily both earned Division III first team status.
"Since they were freshmen they've made an impact on this program, and they've progressively gotten better" Whittell coach Tom Esposito said.
Emily was the floor general for the Warriors this season. There are no glamorous stats to accompany her contribution at point, but the other coaches in the league recognized it as first team.
"She is as athletic as it gets," Esposito said. "Emily is probably one of the top five athletes I've ever coached."
Meanwhile, Amanda's athleticism was the driving force behind Whittell's offense. She accounted for 22 of the Warriors' 24 points in their first match against South Tahoe, and she averaged more than 15 points a game.
Whittell's speed machine, Jenny Shepack, earned honorable mention.
