Village Notes: What's happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Oh my - do you think it is possible that winter will make a return to Tahoe? Let's hope so. As we head into the weekend, the biggest thing to remember is that we lose one hour of sleep Saturday night as we turn our clocks ahead by one hour, and we will not get it back until fall. Ugh.

One of my favorite locals tells me that Raley's is about ready to stop playing "find me if you can with the merchandise" and recommends that we send in a husband with a list now to see what happens! Any volunteers?

With the new snow, the SnowFest! activities for this weekend should be great. The Kings Beach parade is on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

Dine at Azzara's Restaurant on March 12, 13 or 14 to support Incline Elementary School's 5th Grade Science and Outdoor Education Trip. Azzara's will donate a portion of the sales to the trip - tell your server you are supporting IES.

The Tahoe Nevada Chapter of AAUW will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Non-Profit Center. Featured speaker is Kathryn Kelly from the e-Learning Cafe. Reservations must be made no later than Monday, March 18, to Cindy Frei at or call Barbara Fitzpatrick at 775-832-6977.

The Women's Club luncheon is scheduled for Monday, March 18, at the Wildflower Cafe. It begins with a social hour at noon and is followed by lunch at 12:30. The speaker will be the manager of Chico's clothing and accessories store in the Summit in Reno. Cost is $18 and reservations must be made by Wednesday, March 13, to Florine Kubel at 775-831-9235.

Tickets to the Incline Star Follies are selling fast. Do not miss this fun event on March 22-23. Tickets are available at The Potlatch.

And with Easter being early this year Save the Date for the Underwater Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 23, and the annual Spring Eggstravaganza Community Egg Hunt on March 30.

Congratulations to Misty and Marius Moga on their anniversary. Happy Anniversary.

We missed a big birthday shout out to Jerry Hagy on March 5. The news just arrived from Texas yesterday where he is hiding out - but we can celebrate when he returns too.

Also Happy 50th Birthday to Bill Healy and best wishes on his upcoming back surgery.

This week a big birthday shout-out goes to Bonanza Editor Kevin MacMillan on March 9. Stop in and wish him a Happy Birthday. Other birthdays to celebrate include: Joachim Bronzich on March 9; Megan Williamson on March 10; Cesar Gonzalez Arellano and Paul Jameson on March 11, Eric Gough and Dustin Hollingsworth on March 12; and Rose Hand on March 13. Happy Birthday!

Best deal or steal this week is a ticket to the Rotary Ski Day Tuesday. For only $50 you can ski at DP, have a barbecue lunch, enjoy great music out on the deck along with incredible views plus support local non-profits.

As always, send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals and steals you can find, to
