					Maria Socorro Rodarte passed away on June 11, 2013. She died at her home, peacefully, in her favorite recliner rocking chair surrounded by many of her loving family. Maria was born in San Jose de las Bocas, Mexico in 1920. Her parents died when she was a young girl and she immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 to work as a nanny in the Los Angeles area. She married Lawrence Allen, an attorney, and they moved to San Francisco. The Allen’s had 3 children, Evelyn Marie, Ethan Scott, and Frances Elizabeth. 					6/18/1983 - 10/06/2012 Tyler was an extremely kindhearted and loving young man. Tyler enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding and fishing. He loved music. He “valued anything Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth) ever wrote or composed.” One day he was canoeing and found a spot to catch mackinaw right off the shore hiking down from DL Bliss. Our family has lived in Tahoe for more than 40 years and never caught any mackinaw. We all have so many great memories there. Tyler had a true connection with his 10 month old niece, Arieana. 					An accomplished and honorable veteran, Bill Hansen, of South Lake Tahoe passed away on June 8, 2013 at the age of 92. A WWII POW survivor, Bills story was one of both hardship and fortitude. He was raised in San Francisco where his childhood was full of adventures on the seas with his father, a ship captain. As a young man, Bill felt a sense of duty to his country and enlisted into the Air Force in March 1943. He trained to be a pilot and flew both B-17’s and B-24’s, ultimately becoming a 1st Lieutenant Bombardier of the 93rd  &hellip;

					Nancy Marie Healy died peacefully May 30th, 2013 at The Pines at Placerville at the age of 82. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 13, 1931. She traveled to South Lake Tahoe where she resided for the past 46 years. Nancy worked in housekeeping for The Driftwood Lodge and also Barton Memorial Hospital. She was the mother of six children, grandmother of eleven, and great-grandmother of 19. Married to Ernest Colombo on April 9, 1943, they celebrated 43 years together before his death in l986. Together they owned and operated two businesses – Coak’s Radiator Service in Eugene, Oregon and then Colombo’s Burgers a Go Go in South Lake Tahoe, California. For their honeymoon, they packed up their chevy van and moved west to California. 					Joseph Benedict, a beloved San Lorenzo Valley educator, led a long, varied and active life. He moved to Santa Cruz County 50 years ago with his late wife, Kathryn. He served as Director of Instruction and Superintendent of San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District, and was later principal of Quail Hollow Elementary School. Joe was born in Great Falls, Montana, where he developed a lifelong love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, skiing, camping and fishing with friends and family. Richard was a South Lake Tahoe resident for 40 years before moving to the Carson Valley in 1997. Richard worked for several Tahoe casinos. He was the cashier department manager at Harvey’s, at the time of their infamous bombing. Later he worked for Harrah’s in security and retired from there. 					February 16, 1937 - March 28, 2013 Charles “Chuck” Bookhammer passed away peacefully on March 28, 2013. Chuck was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on 2/16/37 to Clemas Rose DeMarino and George W. Bookhammer. He came to California at age 12 with his family; residing in Oakland, California. He attended Hamilton Jr. High and Castlemont High School. He worked in the grocery management business for 30 years; retiring to South Lake Tahoe from San Leandro, Calif. with his wife, Loretta, in 1987. 					Chad Robert Smith Sr., 50, lost his battle to cancer on Friday, January 25, 2013. Chad was born in Inglewood, California on June 3, 1962 to Gary Robert Smith and Gabrielle Paya Beim Smith. Chad grew up in Vista, California where he played football at Vista High School. He graduated from Vista High School in 1980, and from Feather River College in 1982 with a degree in Forestry. When Zoe was 8 months old, she was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, a rare neuro-genetic disorder that causes developmental delays, lack of speech and walking and balance difficulties. These children are known for their sweet demeanor and happy faces, and Zoe’s smile never failed to light up a room.
