While the first official day of summer doesn’t come until June 20, Memorial Day kicked off a handful of the next season’s activities around the basin. From outdoor concert series to loaded casino lineups and more, there is a lot to expect on Tahoe’s South Shore in terms of summer entertainment.

Here’s what to look forward to in the coming months:

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

The newest establishment of its kind in Stateline, Hard Rock hosts a packed live entertainment schedule that includes appearances from Primus, Clutch, Talib Kweli, Warren G, an ‘80s dance band and more.

The casino is also the finish line for the 26th annual America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride, held Sunday, June 4, and the Rock Tahoe Half Marathon, held Saturday, June 17. The site is home to post-marathon celebrations that boast live music, food trucks, the H2uP hydration clinic and more perks. Participating in the race? You and your guests get in free.

Beginning at the start of July, the outdoor pool hosts Dive In Movies on Sunday nights—“The Goonies,” “Beauty and the Beast (2017),” “Back to the Future” and “Ghostbusters” will each screen one Sunday throughout the month.

On July 22, Hard Rock’s outdoor venue welcomes the FMX Motocross Event, which showcases motorcycle stunts and features festival booths and interactive experiences. To learn more about what’s on tap for the casino this summer, visit http://www.hardrockcasinolaketahoe.com.

American Century Celebrity Golf Championship

One of the hottest summer events returns for its 28th year at Edgewood Tahoe July 11-16. This year’s field includes returning players such as Mark Mulder, Charles Barkley, Larry the Cable Guy, Ray Romano, Tony Romo and first-timers Charles Woodson and Paige Spiranac.

A total of 80-plus celebrity athletes and entertainers will play the 54-hole competition, which is televised on NBC and NBCSN. Learn more online at http://www.americancenturychampionship.com.

Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series

Held at Harveys Outdoor Arena, the yearly series that brings in renowned musicians from every genre returns beginning Sunday, June 25, with a performance from Paul Simon, legendary artist from the Simon & Garfunkel duo.

Stopping by the arena throughout the summer are reggae groups Rebelution and Slightly Stoopid, rockers Sammy Hagar & The Circle, Train, Lenny Kravitz, Third Eye Blind, The Who and Linkin Park, singer-songwriter Jack Johnson and country star Eric Church.

Harrah’s Lake Tahoe

Fresh off a two-week stint at the venue this past December, magician and illusionist Rob Lake will perform nearly each night at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe from Friday, June 23, to Monday, Sept. 4. His show, The Magic of Rob Lake, features large-scale illusions and theatrical presentations that are sure to amaze.

Prior to Lake’s shows, British rockers The Yardbirds take the stage on Saturday, June 3 (see page 6 for more), and Louie Anderson performs stand-up on Saturday, June 10. Tickets for all events are available online through Ticketmaster.

The Loft

Apart from the theater’s daily family-friendly Magic Fusion performances, which showcase the talent of Robert Hall until June 7 before a different talent takes over, the venue is in the midst of offering wine-paired dinners — the next installment takes place Wednesday, June 7 (additional information is available on page 7), and is followed by one on July 12.

The Kinsey Sicks, a Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet, returns to the Heavenly Village venue with its adult humor and political satire from June 19-23. Combining four-part harmonies, drag and comedy in an action-packed hour, the group is an act not to be missed.

MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa

The Stateline spot hosts hot weekend entertainment throughout June, July and August — stopping by the venue’s showroom are artists Mike Love and the Chad Wilkins Band, Tajmo: The Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’ Band, New Wave Crave and Herbie Hancock, in addition to a performance by comedians Cheech & Chong.

As summer comes to a close, Michael Franti & Spearhead are among those to take the stage in September. Check out http://www.montbleuresort.com for a complete event listing and to purchase tickets.

Live at Lakeview

This free, outdoor concert series kicks off Thursday, June 22, and concludes Thursday, Aug. 24. Held at Lakeview Commons, located at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Lakeview Avenue, the events feature live music, local vendors, time spent on the beach and a great atmosphere to hang out with friends.

The series enters its sixth season this year and features music ranging from rock ‘n’ roll to blues, reggae, hip-hop, Americana and more. Concerts begin at 4:30 p.m. — visit http://www.liveatlakeview.com for more details, or find the organization on Facebook.
