A power outage at Lake Tahoe Environmental Magnet School led to classes being cancelled today.
Liberty Energy informed the district at 10:15 a.m. that the electrical power would be shut off for the remainder of the day as the utility company makes emergency repairs.
As of 12:30 p.m., some emergency lighting was still available inside the school, but phone service was limited.
Liberty Energy could not be immediately reached for comment on the cause of the outage.
Parents were encouraged to pick up their children as soon as possible, and cold lunches were to be provided to those children who could not immediately be picked up, according to a message sent to parents. Buses were to run at the normal schedule at the end of the day.
The district expects the school will be open tomorrow.
