Lake Tahoe and Truckee farmers markets sprouting

Finding locally sourced, fresh produce at Lake Tahoe isn’t always easy in winter.

But, come spring and summer, farmers markets sprout up around the region, providing stacks of fresh produce from regional growers, local crafts and even live music.

Several Lake Tahoe area farmers markets started up this month, with several more set to open in coming weeks.

Here’s a look at some of the area’s offerings when it comes to farm-direct food:

North Shore

Farmers market at Tunnel Creek

1115 Tunnel Creek Road, Incline Village

4-7 p.m. Thursdays, May 1-Sept. 25, no market July 3.

Farmers market in Tahoe City, Commons Beach

Commons Beach Road and North Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City

8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays, May 22-June 19 and Aug. 28-Sept. 25

Farmers market in Tahoe City, Tahoe Lake Elementary School

375 Grove Street, Tahoe City

8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays, June 26-Aug. 21

Farmers market at the Tahoe Biltmore

5 U.S. Highway 28, Crystal Bay

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays, June 6-Sept. 26, no market July 4

South Shore

Farmers market at Lakeside Inn and Casino
