Renaissance Faire continues this weekend on Tahoe's South Shore

The 22nd annual Valhalla Renaissance Faire, an event that draws more than 8,000 people, will continue at Camp Richardson this weekend with a pirate-and-barbarian theme.

The faire will feature its usual mix of entertainment, food and merchandise and include scavenger hunts, talk-like-a-pirate competitions and more on Saturday and Sunday — the final weekend of the festival.

“This festival includes real jousting sessions and full armored combat between knights, along with culinary delicacies, craft demonstrations, ancient music, dance and comedy,” according to a press release. “Patrons will participate in archery, javelin throws, and fencing. Activities for the children will include dancing, games, crafts, puppet shows and storytelling.”

The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission costs $18 for adults; $13 for seniors 62 and older, military and ages 13-17 and $8 for children 6-12. Children under six are free.

A family day, with family rates, is planned Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rates on this day are $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12. Pets are not permitted.

Parking is available across from the festival site for $5, and free shuttles will be running from South Shore’s Nevada casinos, where parking is free.
