TOCCATA to kick off Summer MusicFest at Lake Tahoe

TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus kicks off its ninth annual Summer MusicFest with “TOCCATA-Summer Solstice Serenade” June 19-24.

“The program opens with Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Flutes in C major, RV 533, with Josue Casillas and Carmella Cao as soloists, and continues with Mr. Casillas performing Vivaldi’s Concerto for Piccolo #443,” according to a press release from the group. “Organist David Brock will interpret Leo Sowerby’s Classic Concerto for Organ and Strings, and performs as continuo player for all other pieces. The concert concludes with J.S. Bach’s Cantata BWV 9 Es ist das Heil, featuring Anna Helwing and Jennie Tibben, sopranos and Stuart Duke, baritone, with Mike O’Neill as concertmaster.”

The Lake Tahoe performances take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Incline Village, at 341 Village Boulevard, and 7 p.m. Monday, June 23 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe, at 1041 Lyons Ave. The orchestra and chorus also performs in Carson City June 21 and Reno June 24.

Tickets are available at the door or online at General admission to all concerts is $25 adults and $20 seniors. Youth/students under 24 are $5. All performances are supported by the Kling Family Foundation.
