From the Action editor: In action there is change

While Harrison Avenue construction changes the area surrounding Lake Tahoe Action’s headquarters, there is also change afoot inside the publication.

You may notice some of that change this week.

While mainstays like the calendar, artist profiles and event coverage aren’t going anywhere, we’re adding additional features and structuring the paper a little different from here on out. We hope the changes give readers a more complete picture of the amazing breadth of options available to residents and visitors.

One of the reasons why Lake Tahoe and Truckee are so special is their combination of nightlife with daytime activities — the hiking, biking, boating and other recreational opportunities you can take part in prior to heading out on the town. We wanted to reflect that by upping our weekly coverage of recreation and dedicating sections of each paper to getting outside at Lake Tahoe.

This week we start out with a profile of one of Lake Tahoe’s most classic and accessible hikes, the walk to Eagle Lake. We also spotlight a unique option for getting out on the lake with a quick story on Tahoe Star Tours’ and Lake Tahoe Adventure Company’s stargazing paddles. Of course, it’s Fourth of July week, so we can’t help but spotlight the spectacular fireworks displays taking place this weekend.

We’re also expanding our dining coverage to let residents and visitors in on some of the great eats available at Lake Tahoe and Truckee. Freelancer Simone Grandmain provides a double dose of food options this week, with profiles on Trokay in Truckee and Thai Kitchen in Tahoe City.

Lake Tahoe’s unique combination of entertainment and recreation is what has kept me here for nearly a decade. We hope you find the same attraction toward the area and Lake Tahoe Action can help you on all you journeys, whether on the trail or in the club. Enjoy!
