It may feel as though Lake Tahoe’s golf season just wrapped up, but the time for teeing off and sinking putts is back, or soon will be, at area courses.

A lack of snowfall this winter has led to an early spring at many Tahoe and Truckee golf courses, many of which are set to open soon. For some, the season never really ended but was just put on pause for a couple months.

Both Old Brockway Golf Course and Tahoe City Golf Course at the North Shore opened to customers in January due to subpar snow totals.

While there is still some snow on Tahoe Donner Golf Course’s higher-elevation links, Rob Weizer, the head golf professional there, said the course will be ready for a scheduled May 15 opening. Managers at the course typically try to get it ready by Memorial Day each year, and the May 15 date will be among the course’s earlier openings, Weizer said.

“It’s setting up to be one of our best seasons ever.”Rob WeizerHead Golf Professional, Tahoe Donner Golf Course

Conditions on the course bode well for a long season, he added.

“The golf course is just looking absolutely perfect,” Weizer said. “It’s setting up to be one of our best seasons ever.”

Several other courses at Lake Tahoe and Truckee were also reporting greens and fairways are in excellent condition this spring.

At the South Shore, Tahoe Paradise opened its front nine holes to golfers April 3 and Lake Tahoe Golf Course opened April 19.

Incline Village’s Mountain Course, at the North Shore, is set to open May 1, with the Championship Course scheduled for May 8.

“This is the earliest I’ve seen the courses open,” said Michael McCloskey, senior head golf professional for the courses, said in statement. “The mild winter and lack of snow on the courses contributed to the early opening.”

Here’s a look at some of the area’s golf courses, as well as their projected opening dates:
