A man and a woman who were traveling on a motorcycle were injured after their motorcycle struck a pickup truck Sunday evening in the area of Modesto Avenue and Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) officers were dispatched to the area at 8:26 p.m., SLTPD Sgt. Pierre Herring said Monday. Upon impact both the man driver and his woman passenger were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained injuries. The man was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital via ambulance while the woman was airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. The extent of the injuries was not initially reported.

The driver of the pickup truck did not report any injuries.

The identities of the injured motorcyclists were not immediately released.

Herring said drugs and alcohol were not suspected to be factors.

It was not clear if the motorcycle riders were wearing helmets when the incident occurred.

The incident is under investigation.
