Letter: Community split on major issues

Editor’s note: This letter responds to a Feb. 5 letter in the Tribune regarding an opinion column, “Change is going to happen.” It ran Jan. 24.

It’s interesting to get Mr. Crawford’s take on my column. As I see it the community does split on many issues. One only has to look at every major issue — be it the regional plan, parking meters, the Meyers community plan, SnowGlobe, Loop Road, etc. Typically, people are for or against issues in this community with common ground and compromise hard to find. I also find it interesting that when Mr. Crawford was on the city council he often was the source of creating a bifurcation of issues and I think took great pride in it. Mr. Crawford was legendary for never offering new solutions to challenges and problems that confronted this community, just attacking what was proposed.

As for Mr. Crawford’s comment and slight on me being a consultant, I make no apology. I have created a successful business that employs people and makes a contribution to the community.
