Country, pop, rock, reggae and soul will all be represented at the 25th year of the Lake Tahoe Summer Concert Series at Harveys Outdoor Arena.

The series of a dozen musical performances at the South Shore starts this weekend with a show headlined by San Diego act Slightly Stoopid.

The series started at Harveys in 1992 with the Gipsy Kings and has grown substantially over the years.

“We try to make it a diverse, eclectic lineup to appeal to a variety of audiences,” said Harveys spokesman John Packer on Tuesday.

Coordinating the relatively short window available for the series with touring artists’ routes presents some challenges each year, but Packer said he is excited about the acts coming in 2016.

“It is a good lineup. It worked out well,” Packer said.

Rock, reggae and hip-hop group Slightly Stoopid kicks off the Summer Concert Series Saturday night, July 2. The reggae act released its most recent album, “Meanwhile…Back at the Lab,” in June 2015.

“Fans can expect to hear tracks from Slightly Stoopid’s newest release ‘Meanwhile… Back At The Lab,’ plus cuts from albums released over the group’s two-decade spanning career,” according to a press release for the tour.

The group has played the South Shore in the past, with Harveys last hosting the band in 2011.

“It was a great show and they wanted to play here again,” Packer said.

Grammy-nominated reggae band Soja, Bay Area rappers Zion I and MCs Grouch and Eligh open Saturday’s show. Tickets to the general admission concert cost $37.50 plus fees and are available at http://www.ticketmaster.com.

Widespread Panic follows the opening of the series with a performance Wednesday, July 6.

“They’re a great act, a lot of great fans, loyal fans,” Packer said.

Organizers of the series always try to get at least one show scheduled during the week of the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, Packer said. The casino was able to secure two acts for that weekend, country star Tim McGraw July 23 and the Eagles co-founder Don Henley July 24.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Packer said.

He said he expects many of the shows to sell out. For those looking to score tickets to a sold-out show, Packer said there are often small batches of tickets that become available at the venue’s box office on the day of the performance. The box office opens at 1 p.m. on the day of a show.
