A Portland, Oregon, band brings its Americana and rockin’ bluegrass back to Meyers this weekend.

The Scratchdog Stringband plays the Divided Sky this Saturday, July, 23.

“Since early 2015, Scratchdog Stringband has been evolving a new musical amalgamation described by some as Americana/Rockgrass. Based in Portland, Oregon, and touring throughout the West Coast and Midwest, this trio delivers a fresh blend of classic and contemporary acoustic music,” according to the band’s online biography. “These artisans continually hone their technical finesse through exuberant experimentation and intuitive improvisation. The sound that emerges is uniquely ‘Scratchdog,’ deriving from influences in rock, folk, country and jazz.”

The group played the Divided Sky in January and released its first debut album, “Three Times Fast,” in April.

“Strong dedication to their craft and to one another has quickly made Scratchdog Stringband one of the hardest working acts in the Northwest, both on and off of the stage. Within three months of their formation, the dogs released their debut EP, ‘Introducing Scratchdog Stringband,’ which sold just under a thousand copies within its first year of circulation,” according to a press release for the show. “In 2016, they booked five days in The Hallowed Halls, Portland’s newest top-of-the-line recording studio, and have since released their first full-length album, ‘Three Times Fast.’ This CD thoroughly and accurately represents the inimitable craftsmanship and performing style of Scratchdog Stringband, a sound that matures and expands with every show.”
