Letter: Please don’t feed the bears

Yesterday afternoon I spotted an unusual looking bird near the casinos. As it sat on the edge of a dumpster just watching, I thought to myself, “What is that?” It’s not a robin, but reminds me of one. What could it be? That little seven-inch bird? It sure was striking looking! I later went home and looked it up in one of my bird books, and lo and behold, it was a hermit thrush! You don’t see many of those in Tahoe.

Oh, by the way, last night on the way home from work, I saw a large black bear eating out of someone’s garbage can on Birch Street. Please don’t feed our black bears, even inadvertently by leaving garbage cans unsecured.

Thank you, Tahoe; the bears thank you too! Keep rocking, Tahoe!
