Prescribed fires resume near Cold Creek

Prescribed burns in the Cold Creek area are expected to continue through the week, conditions permitting, according to a Monday statement from the U.S. Forest Service. Crews expect to burn approximately half an acre.

Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke from the project area. Smoke-sensitive residents should consider staying indoors and keeping doors, windows and outside vents closed. To directly receive prescribed fire updates, email

Forest Service staff will post road signs around areas affected by prescribed fire, and update the local fire information line at 530-543-2600, No. 6. Other federal, state and local fire management agencies may also conduct prescribed fire work during this period.
