Detectives have arrested a man who reportedly confessed to the March 7 robbery of El Dorado Savings Bank.
Police received information March 21 that the suspect was in Reno, Nev. South Lake Tahoe Police Department detective Nick Carlquist and the FBI contacted South Lake Tahoe resident Paul Cortez, 29, in Reno, where Cortez reportedly confessed to the robbery, including specific details of how the robbery occurred and how much money was taken, police said.
After interviewing Cortez, Carlquist returned to South Lake Tahoe and obtained an arrest warrant, according to the release. Cortez was later arrested by Reno police and booked into the Washoe County jail for the warrant. His transfer back to South Lake Tahoe/El Dorado County Jail was pending as of Friday evening.
