57 Nevada guardsmen going to Afghanistan

RENO ” The Nevada Army National Guard has activated 57 soldiers for deployment to Afghanistan.
A formal activation ceremony was held at the Army Aviation Support Center in Stead Wednesday for the aviators, mechanics and medics who will spend one year of active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
They are members of the C Company, 1st Battalion of the 168th General Support Aviation (MEDEVAC).
The Nevada Guard plans to ship six UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters overseas and keep one in the state for firefighting.
Capt. April Conway says the Nevada soldiers will be stationed at Kandahar and possibly at other locations.
Most of the guardsmen in the detachment live in the Reno-Sparks area, Carson City, Minden, Dayton, Fernley and Fallon.
