Oct. 3, 1951 – Mar. 20, 2013
Julie Kiner lost her battle to cancer on this first day of Spring after bravely fighting for more than 13 years.
Born in Mitchell, South Dakota she attended the University of Illinois and was a professional drummer with the renowned bandleader Franz Benteler. She received her Master’s degree and license to practice Occupational Therapy from Rush University. In 1999 Julie came to South Lake Tahoe and made a home with her partner and wife francine Tanner.
She was an Occupational Therapist and Supervisor with Home Health and Hospice at Barton Memorial Hospital until 2011. Julie was an active member and a great supporter of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society.
She loved to fish and took great pleasure being with francine out on Lake Tahoe in their boat.
Julie leaves behind her brother, David Kiner and nephews, Todd and Troy Kiner of Oklahoma. With the many friends and “village of people” Julie left behind, she will truly be missed.
A memorial gathering will be held on the beach at the Beacon in South Lake Tahoe, Saturday, April 6th 2013 at 1:00pm. Please join us for this occasion.
In remembrance of Julie, donations can me made to Lake Tahoe Historical Society.
