TRUCKEE, Calif. — Starting next week, Glenshire Drive between Highland Avenue and Berkshire Circle will be closed to through traffic from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through October.
The only exception will be for those who live within the work zone and emergency vehicles, according to the town of Truckee; all other traffic will be redirected to Interstate 80 and can re-enter the subdivision using the Hirschdale exit.
During the day, Glenshire Drive will be open with one-way traffic controls, with up to 5-minute delays.
Work to widen the 24-foot wide Glenshire Drive to 32 feet, with two 11-foot wide travel lanes and two 5-foot shoulder-paved bike lanes, began July 8. It’s a two-phase project that will also involve drainage culvert replacement and erosion control.
Funding for the $2.51 million project comes from road maintenance sales tax and the Truckee Traffic Impact Fee account.
Phase two, extending from the Highland/Glenshire intersection to the Glenshire/Donner Pass Road intersection, will occur in the summer of 2014.
