January 26, 1979 ~ August 8, 2013
With her family gathered hand in hand, surrounding her, Kat left this earth and moved on to her next adventure. She has reunited with her dog Yellow to enjoy long, peaceful hikes in the meadows and ski the high, heavenly slopes of the Sierras.
Born in Pennsylvania, Katherine was the youngest of three siblings. Being the daughter of a Naval Officer, she lived in several areas around the US. She graduated from Cox High School in 1997. She went on to study Fine Arts and majored in Sculpture and pottery at Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated in 2001.
Katherine was an accomplished gymnast. She achieved recognition at the state and national level participating in the U.S. Junior Olympics.
Katherine’s imagination and artistic talents ignited her passion for exploring the outdoors and her love for all of GOD’s creatures. This passion and love is what brought her to Lake Tahoe to live and sadly leave us far too soon.
Katherine is survived by her father and mother, Peter W. Weed Sr. and Linda A. Weed of Va. Beach, her sister, Heather A. Cervantes, brother, Peter W. Weed Jr. and his loving wife, Lydia her nephew, Adrik Cervantes and nieces, Nina Cervantes and Soleil and Eastlynn Weed. She is also survived by a maternal grandmother, Bertha Adamcewicz of Long Island, New York and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
All who had the privilege of knowing Katherine have been many times blessed by her radiant smile, her beautiful heart and soul and her never ending kindness. Kat, you will never be forgotten.
This is not goodbye……………this is “Until We Meet Again.”
A memorial celebration of her life is scheduled to be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Paradise Park in Myers, South Lake Tahoe.
For those who wish to donate in Kat’s memory contributions may be made in her name to the South Lake Tahoe SPCA or any other charity of your choice.
