Tahoe’s Homewood resort to open early, offer free day of skiing

HOMEWOOD, Calif. — Homewood Mountain Resort will open for the 2013-14 ski season on Wednesday, two days earlier than expected, the resort announced Monday.

Recent storms dropped 27 inches of fresh snow on the West Shore resort, according to a press release, helping solidify a base layer created by Homewood’s snowmaking crew over the past week.

The resort will open with the Happy Platter surface lift, Magic Carpet beginner runs and Happy Park terrain park, available from the resort’s North Lodge.

In honor of the early opening, Homewood will offer all guests free lift tickets on Wednesday. Skiers and riders need to check in at any ticket window to receive a free ticket.

After Wednesday, Homewood will offer early-season lift ticket pricing of $29 Sunday-Friday, and $39 on Saturdays until the resort can open additional terrain to the public.
