Soundscape brings beats to Tahoe’s Horizon Casino Resort

A new music festival at the South Shore will include multiple stages of music over several days surrounding New Year’s Eve.

Soundscape features more than 20 electronic acts performing at the Horizon Casino Resort Dec. 31 through Jan. 3.

DJs Chuckie, Borgore and Carnage headline the event, which includes both indoor and outdoor stages.

Soundscape provides an alternative to the nearby SnowGlobe Music Festival over slightly different days with nearby lodging options, said Caroline Cantrall with Epic Productions, the company behind the event. Single day tickets for Soundscape start at $35.

“It’s also really great because it’s affordable,” Cantrall said.

Headliner Chuckie is an Amsterdam-based producer who has remixed Michael Jackson and David Guetta and produced for 50 Cent, Ke$ha and Akon, according to a profile on www.djz.com.

“Originally born in Suriname, Chuckie’s passion for DJing brought him to The Netherlands in the early 2000s,” according to the profile. He quickly established himself as a big name in the emerging dirty house scene, a genre characterized by insane synth leads over Latin-inspired rhythms and samples.”

“The ‘Mix King’ is also a regular at festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, SxSW in Texas, Fuji Rock in Japan, Creamfields in Australia, Electric Zoo and EDC not to mention his countless other gigs he plays around the globe in cities such as London, Buenos Aires, Belgrade, Montreal and Stockholm,” according to a separate biography.

Borgore, a Israeli producer and former death metal drummer, and Carnage, a Los Angeles-based trap producer, round out the top of Soundscape’s bill, which also includes electronic acts Clockwork, Crizzly, ETC(!) ETC(!), Rock-It! Scientists and Miles Medina.

Soundscape also includes skateboarding demonstrations, an ice skating rink, heated pool parties and all-night ballroom parties inside the casino, according to event promoters. Pre-parties for the event take place inside the casino’s ballrooms Dec. 29-30.
