A Legendary Run on Saturday

Staff report

The run that triggered fundraising for the South Tahoe Track & Field Restoration project at South Tahoe Middle School is Saturday. Presented by T.R.4.C.K., A Legendary Run will begin at 8 a.m. in the Lake Tahoe Community College Parking area, with registration between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m.

The 10K and 5K races are a mix of flat and gentle hills and single-track trail. The course will go along Al Tahoe Boulevard and through forest and meadow, finishing near the former site of the historic track used during the 1968 Olympic Track and Field Trials.

Entry fee for the event is $30, including a shirt, goodie bag and entry into the post-race raffle. There is a $5 discount for Tahoe Mountain Milers/Sagebrush Stompers members with preregistration only.

The races will be divided into various age divisions, including 12 and under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.

Tax deductible credit card donations to the track restoration project are possible by joining the Lake Tahoe Education Foundation at sthsalumni.org. On the membership form, check Haase-Hug-Holmes (Track Restoration).
