Barbara "Richie" Michielsen

Barbara A. “Richie” Richards Michielsen died peacefully March 28, 2005, at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital in Reno, Nev.

She was born May 8, 1939, in Barstow, Calif., to Lyle and Mabel Richards. She worked for California Interstate Telephone Co., until her marriage to her devoted and loving husband, Don L. Michielsen. A resident of South Lake Tahoe for 39 years, she worked for Del Webb’s High Sierra Casino as chief operator in the communications department and was a travel agent for International Tours, Lake Tahoe. She was active in the South Lake Tahoe Boat/Yacht clubs and South Lake Tahoe Hi-Lo’s Jeep Club, was a director for the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Bowling Association, and an officer for the South Lake Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed many motor home trips with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Don L. Michielsen of South Lake Tahoe ; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Cindy Michielsen of El Dorado Hills, Calif., son, Gregory Michielsen of Glenbrook, Nev.; grandsons, Spencer, Evan and Mathew; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Esther Richards of Needles, Calif.; sister-in-law, Lana Pettigrew of Lincoln, Calif.; uncle and aunt, Bob and Doris Jurgens of Rescue, Calif.; aunt, Lila Stafford of Denver, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Tahoe Keys Marina in South Lake Tahoe. Donations may be made in her name to the Barton Memorial Hospice of the Lake, 2092 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150.
